CELESTIAL EQUESTRIAN

 The  beautiful  blue  of  a  reflection  nebula,  velvety  red  from  ionized  hydrogen  atoms,  and  dark  nebula  resembling  a  horse’s  head  can  all  be  seen  in  this  image.  There  are  even  stars  with  spikes  caused  by  a  reflector  telescope.

 Famously  known  as  the  Running  Chicken,  the  IC  2944  Nebula  shines  bright  in  the  Southern  sky.  Sometimes  called  the  Lambda  Centauri  Nebula,  it  is  an  open  star  cluster  with  an  associated  emission  nebula.
